Recipient of ITA COSUF Award 2015
The ITA COSUF is the Centre of excellence for world-wide exchange of information and know-how regarding safety and security of underground facilities and operation. The organisation was founded in 2005, following a joint initiative of eight research projects, which all aimed to improve tunnel safety. ITA COSUF is one of of four committees within the International Tunneling and Underground Space Organisation (ITA), and is also supported by PIARC, the World Road Association.
Every year, the ITA COSUF awards a young professional of researcher who has recently completed an outstanding research work in theory and/or practice in the area of operational safety or security of underground facilities. Last week, I received an email informing me that the ITA COSUF steering board had selected me as the winner of the ITA COSUF 2015 Award for my outstanding research work in the area of operational safety or security of underground facilities. Naturally, I was very happy to recieve this token of appreciation for last years of work!
The Award, which consists of a certificate and 1000€ in cash, will be handed over by an ITA COSUF chairman at the 41st General Assembly and Congress of International Tunnel Association ITA-AITES in Dubrovnik. At the ITA COSUF workshop on May 26, I will also present some of my work to the attending delegates.
Naturally, I would like to thank the ITA COSUF steering board for selecting be as this years recipient of the Award. I feel truly honored! I would also like to thank all the people who have supported me during these years, and contributed to my work in a numerous of ways, especially my supervisors Håkan Frantzich and Daniel Nilsson at the Division of Fire Safety Engineering, Lund University.
